El Dorado High School Reviews

i am a former student of el dorado high school. I graduated amongist my peers and with my class of 2007, my time at el dorado helped me out as a student as well as a adult. the enviroment in which it provides is very helpful and the teachers are amazing providing help and goin out of there way for you to succeed. Still till this day i go back for help from my teachers at el dorado. Currently i am in my sophmore year of college in route to pursuit my dream of becoming a teacher. i feel honored to be a graduate from el dorado and hope to see many more succed in there future as i am doing today

I have been a teacher at El Dorado for many years and I have found that our students respond well to the small atmosphere of our school and to the flexible learning environment that is offered. The student-teacher ratio is small and the relationships that students develop in the classroom have helped to guidetheir success after graduation whether in college or in the working arena.

My son graduated from El Dorado High School one year early as valedictorian of his class. He received a good education, particularly in the areas of English, science, and social studies. He was well-prepared for college. The small school atmosphere means that students can be 'a big fish in a small pond.' The staff and teachers notice what is going on with the students every day and go out of their way to meet their needs. Many students have been successful at El Dorado that have not done well at large public high school due to the smaller class sizes and more individual attention.

I am a teacher at El Dorado and I believe our staff is doing an incredible job serving our student population. The majority of our students have been unsuccessful in traditional public schools, yet are able to have many successful experiences at EDHS. Our class sizes are small, our interpersonal communication with the students is well above the call of duty, and our passion to see our students succeeds radiates throughout our school. I feel privileged to be a part of the EDHS community.

My daughter transferred to El Dorado for her senior year in high school. Her grades have impoved drastically since the transfer. There seems to me to be a wide range in amount of experience among the staff. The recently departed prinicipal had previously retired from a public school district after many years of service. Among the teaching staff, however, a large percentage comes with less experience. I had a disturbing concern that was never satisfactorily resolved: one teacher began the new year with material I questioned, and continued by showing an R rated movie - without getting parental consent. I was assured by the administration that the teacher had acted without approval, that this was a serious infraction, that it would be addressed with other issues observed by the administration, and that the temporary contract of the teacher in question would not be renewed at the end of that block. Two blocks later, the teacher in question is still employed. No explanation was offered by the administrator. Nevertheless there are others who are highly committed to helping their students succeed. A demonstration of this committment is the educational tour of Washington D.C., accomplished this spring. The trip was completely funded by a grant written by faculty. Our daughter and the others had a life-changing experience in the nation's capital.
