Phoenix Advantage Charter School Reviews

My son went for first grade at this school and have Ms. Medina as his teacher, He had a wonderful year. I move him to another charter school he went there for 4 years. Then that school make changes that I as a parent did not agree so I move him back to PACS, this was a big mistake, somebody said; ' theacher don't have control of the students' that is so true. The teacher there are not in love in what they do. My son was not challenge enought, he was wore all the time...

Unfortunately my daughter didn't have Mrs. Kleinman but for only a few days. She was great but the school overall couldn't cut it. I recently pulled my daughters due to the constant problems with the school. I refuse to have my girls in this environment. We found a much better and more disciplined school that will prepare my girls for their futures. I wouldn't refer any of my friends or family members to this school. The new principal has his work cut out for him.

Safety and discipline, two important words that this school doesn't care about. My daughter has seen fights and drugs at Phoenix Advantage. Its a disadvantage to my girls. Lack of discipline, no consequences, unsafe. I pulled my kids out, enough is enough and we will not be back.

I have to laugh after reading that post about cloning, if anything Mrs. Kleinman should be cloned. She has a professionalism that is amazing, she has the credentials and knowledge to be in a teaching postition. She is by far one of the best and most dedicated teachers that school has.

I am a very concerned parent, this is my son's second year attending this school and I am very unsatisfied with the school. The teachers or the principal is not passionate about their jobs. My son has a behavior problems with that being said my son and I have been treated like criminals. Instead of attempting to help the situation they decided it s easier to outcast my son. In addition, I believe the safety of the kids should be questioned. I have had a situation with another parent putting her hands on my son and verbally abusing him with very foul language.I was told the mother was mentally unstable; however they continue to allow her around the kids. Overall this school has a lot of problems and I would not recommend any parents put their child in this school.

I had 2 of my children attending school there when they first started attending school it was great my kids loved it its sad to say over the 2 years the school has really taken a dive for the worst. They have no control over the students I had to take my children out and enroll them in a public shool and I was told my children are really behind there fore my son was held back.I do not recommend this school to any parent.

I have two boys who attend this school and when my children first started this school I thought it was a pretty good school. My children both had wonderful teachers and that really made me think the school was good. Until there teachers both left. This school has a lot of things they need to work on. I feel the children should be able to move on to the next level.

The staff at phoenix advantage knows nothing about education. The administraters are just there for the big paycheck. If your child attends this school, I challenge you to walk around and observe the robots your children are turning to.

I am a concerned parent. My child has been attending this school for two years. I have been very pleased until this year. It seems that the school is only concerned about receiving a check for children these days. Instead of teaching the children. The staff is very disorganized and out of control.

My child attended this school for two years (K-1) and we had a great experience at this school. The teachers and support staff were hard-working and established a personal relationship with me and my son especially the after-care program. My son was heartbroken to have to leave his friends, but we have moved to Avondale and the commute is too long for him to attend Phoenix Advantage. I would encourage anyone who wants to send their child to a quality school with a challenging curriculum, supportive staff, and an emphasis on teaching personal responsibility to consider this one.

To start,I have very mixed thoughts on this school. At first I was very pleased with the idea of fewer students per class, thats gives more one on one to help the ones that are having problems understanding thier work.I was told no one moves on until they all understand!I find out that they seperate student having trouble and ship to anouther room. If you look at the test results (AIMS)I find myself asking is this is best for my child? If this is a performing arts shool, than why are they not performing? They worry to much about the head count of students to recieve funding that they forgot their learning needs!Stop asking for donations and teach our kids! I worried that one morning the school doors wont open. Just stick to the basics. Teach

My child accelerated at his previous school and was bored out of his mind at this school. It is a great school for ESL children, but does not have any stimulation for fast learners. The after care program was horrific! Their time spent with children was babysitting vs. structured play. They let children play on the internet with no supervision, allowed them to listen to provacative radio music and did not effectively discipline. I regret having left my child in their care.

The teachers here are great! They love their jobs and it shows in the quality education that they provide to their students.

I have volunteered to be an active parent on many levels at this school, and never receive feedback from the school. There is no PTA, and very little in the way of art, music, or other extracurricular activities. Even more disturbing, children that are ahead of the curve are forced to just sit and wait for the other children to catch up instead of being given some sort of independent study to challenge them, even when this is requested by the parent. I would not recommend this school to any parent.

Great place..Awsome, caring staff

The students are the focus. Core subjects are taught in the morning along with a very hands-on social studies program. There has been an improvement in providing the students with extracurricular activities especially in sports.

I pulled my daughter out of this school after 4 1/2 dreadful months. She entered Kindergarten there as a 4-year-old who already knew how to read early chapter books, but there was nothing in the class program to accommodate her ability level. She had to endure boring lessons where the teacher pointed to pictures and asked, 'What is this?' Students: 'A ball.' Teacher: 'A what?' Students: 'A ball.' Teacher: 'Yes, a ball.' I helped out in the classroom two days a week and thought I'd die of boredom. In all the hours I volunteered there, only two books were read aloud to the children that I saw. Shameful. The school is definitely geared towards kids who don't know English, but not set up in a way to help them enjoy learning it.

THis school has done wonders for my child! I love the staff and the bilingual environment.

things are much better this year, friendlier environment.

I as a former teacher there , would highly suggest this school to everyone, the amount of learning that goes on there is awesome . Their teachers are great too... Mutti ( Go Wilson .)

Phoenix Advantage Charter School focuses on children's individual needs. Teachers work together on teams to communicate issues at each grade level to meet student needs. The children at Phoenix Advantage are very diverse, however, PACS teachers differentiate their instruction to meet the needs of all students. Each student is entitled to an equal opportunity for a quality education, and Phoenix Advantage does just that. Cultural diversity, respect and global awareness are taught at an early age through the Paragon curriculum. Starting in kindergarten, students are taught art from other cultures, music and customs.

My son has been going to this school since he was in kindergarton then i took him out couple years because i moved out of state then when he was in 3rd grade brought him back he is now in 5 grade.I am not happy with this school there are so many changes and no parent involvement. There are no sports activities.Teachers don't let us know anything except when they need supplys. There is lots of homework everynight and on the weekends they are very prejudice my son is mixed i am looking for a better school for my son. They do not help the kids very much. There is alot of yelling and screaming at the kids.

What a wonder principal the school has in Ms. Haluska! Her recent improvements are fantastic. My child loves the school. It is a caring environment with a strong emphasis on academics. Kudos to Haluska and her team!

The academic level is not clear, and truely depends on who you talk to. Due to the high level of new mexican americans it appears that the children may be slowed down inorder for the other students to be brought up to the standard levels. Music, art and sports are on a rotation class schedule so no student has a real chance to learn more than a surface brief review. This school asks for parent involvement but it appears that due to the significant language difficulties that parent involvement is low. Unable to guide students with the children translating. Students know more about the inner workings than necessary.

I am not very happy with this school. They have been under-performing for the past couple of years now. In addition to this, I called the school as a concerned parent regarding their bus stop. The neighborhood has gone down hill, with the wrong kind of people walking down the street. The school has let the bus driver constantly yell at my kids to be out of the car waiting for her to get there. I told them my concerns for the neighborhood (for safety reasons why we wait in the car) and after going over everything, they told me 'We do not care'. I told them that this is not the kind of school that I want my children going to, where the management does not care about the safety of the children. They also did nothing in regards to the bus driver yelling at my kids either.

Phoenix advantage charter school has a great program called paragon which covers the history and culture of different civilizations around the world teaching students with hands on experiences.

I have two children that attend Phoenix Advantage Charter School. My daughter is in 4th grade and is doing very well there. She is very close to being a straight A student, I believe this is due to the teachers and their dedication to educating our children.

Teachers have no control over kids, admin has no clue how to handle discipline.
