Summit Elementary School Reviews

The teachers at Summit Elementary are caring professionals, who understand the strengths and weaknesses of each of their students, and teach accordingly. I am thrilled that my child is a part of this learning community.

I think summit is an excellent school. I love the way all the staff treats you like family, and if you have any problems they help you work them out. I know I have made the right choice sending my daughter to Summit.

this school has a strong curriculum and loving environment. i couldnt imagine placing my children anywhere else!!

I love this School!! The coaches are amazing. They do a great job, in building the kids confidence in athletics and in the classroom. The sports progarm is one of the best. Coach Taylor has turned kid's attitudes around!!!

I think the school is short handed and thngs would be better if there was more staff.

What this school lacks is leadership and engaging staff. I was very disappointed in the leaving of several staff members. The school has only gone downhill from there. The office staff can be a little more welcoming and kid friendly and the principal should be more available to meet concerned parents.

i removed my child recently from the 1st grade class at this school. i did not appreciate my child being talked down to and snapped at to gain their attention.

My son first started Summit Elementary last year after I realized that the district I was moving to no longer offered any arts programs. My son greatly enjoyed first grade. Not only was he learning all the things he needed, but also more advanced things as well. I was amazed at how quickly my son was learning how to do math, especially math at the 3rd grade level. He was able to experience many activities no longer offered in a public school. Not only is her learning Spanish and about computers, but attends at least one field trip a month sometimes even two or three-something most schools have eliminated. Although we are moving to Mesa soon, he will still be attending because in his words he loves the school.

Anyone interested in this school for the 'sports' aspect look twice. There is no professional athletic training, the sports program is very basic and the quality of the instructors is questionable. The office staff berates the children, you can never meet with the principal, and the classes are overcrowded.

Summit Elementary is a great school. The concept behind incorporating a focus on physical activity into the regular school day is something that I am surprised wasn't done sooner. Students at Summit are able to get a great education from the experienced teachers as well as learn about the positive affects regular exercise can have in their lives. Summit has great families, topped off with wonderful terachers and staff.

If you are looking for a school for your child. Summit is the place. It's family oriented. The teachers are pleasant and have an open door policy. The teachers are there to talk to parents, if they need help with anything as well as the principal. I like the direction the school is moving in. I am telling everyone I know about summit and their athletic program.

Summit Elementary is a great school. This school helps instill a healthy mind and body for all of it's students. The concept of a charter school for sports is a wonderful concept. This school teaches kids how to excell on a nd off the field in academics and athletics. My nieces have loved this school since thier first day and I would like to thank Summit for its unqie and winderful atmosphere.

Communication with parents, and the 'Customer Service' Aspect need A LOT of work. I hope the upcoming school year will show changes, or I will be removing my children.

This was the first year my child at Summit & I was very excited initially. However, by the end of the year, I could not wait for this school year to be over. I appreciated her teacher and thought she did an amazing job with what she was given and the number of students in her class. However, the staff was lacking in so many ways. They lack the communication and personable skills with parent interaction. There were many times when I called the school that I felt like I was an inconvenience to them. There were many times when I went to pick up my child in aftercare and no one knew where she was and I was left running all over looking for her. The school and programs lack organization, they have the right idea, however, do not know how to effectively execute them.

The parent review on April 29 2008' It is very true about the 1st grade teacher Ms. Jones she is a great teacher and she does pushes these kids to achieve. My daughter loves her. We need more teachers like her. When ever I walk in to her class all the kids are sitting quietly lisening to her. I wish she can move on to 2nd grade with these kids. We love you Ms. Jones your the best!!!!

I'm not sure what to rate the school. My son attended another charter school and it was an awful experience. I knew he was behind and I was very concerned. When I met the 1st grade teacher, I was a little worried. She is very firm with the kids but she really pushes them to achieve. I appreciate that. When I was doing homework with my son and he began reciting something he learned at school. He said 'I can learn this, I will learn this, I can do anything I put my mind to!' When I asked where he learned this, he said he learned it from his teacher. Wow! My daughter is in the 4th grade at another charter school and I don't think I have ever heard one of her teachers encourage her that way. I am so pleased with Summit & the progress my son has made!

A few years ago I couldn t praise Summit and it s teaching staff enough. Now I m looking for another school for my child to attend next year. What happened to this close knit school which was all about the students. The parents were so involved and the teachers & staff were excellent. Now it seems like.. I m not sure what but I don t really like it. It s lost almost everything that made it so unique, so caring, & so fun. I never thought I would say this but I don t recommend Summit Elementary to anyone for the one reason that its now just like any other public school. Nothing and no one special that makes it stand out and welcome you to it s halls. I suppose since it is a profit school its all about business & expanding rather than the its students, our children. Respectfully concerned & unhappy parent

this is my childs second year at summit. my child loved the kinder teacher last year. the new first grade teacher is very hard to talk to and doesnt always seem as if she is listening. it is very frustrating at times. my child loves the assistant in the first grade class who was the same assistant last year in kindergarten. i feel much better knowing that three is an assistant in first grade.

overall I am pleased with the school

This is the first year that our son has attended Summit and we are very disappointed. The teachers are nice and they do try and we like the sports aspect but the quality of education is lacking. We have also found the quality of the other kids and parents to be very dissapointing and distracting for our child. We will be removing him as soon as we can find another school.

My children attended Summit and I loved the previous kindergarten teacher whom is no longer there. The experience from that point on was extremely disappointing. My childs previous 3rd grade teacher became a very big concern and I could not have been more disappointed in an adult let alone a supposed teacher. The 2nd grade teacher lacked experience and knowledge, the newest kinder teacher also lacked the above mentioned and was not even kind, overall I found my children to be going nowhere fast and removed them immediately.

I was very happy with Summit for the first three years my child has attended as the previous kindergarten teacher and the current first and second grade teachers are phenomenal. The fourth year there has been a big disappointment. While the principal is working hard at improving the overall quality of the school the most recently hired teachers are lacking in experience which equates to anxiety and disappointment for the students, with several higher achieving students now looking to leave Summit because of inadequate teacher ability. The school has great potential but the newer teachers need increased training, especially in the areas of child development.

Summit Elementary provides a level of education that far exceeds what I have discovered elsewhere. My daughter and son attended there for five years and experienced deep relationships, a beautiful environment conducive to learning, and a level of education that was impressive! Both learned the multiplication tables up to 12 in second grade! My daughter traveled to New Orleans and Catalina Island with her 4th and 5th grade classes respectively. She got to be a cheerleader, attend numerous plays & symphonies, create clay pottery, sing in choir, and be in talent shows. My son played sports & was in afterschool gymnastics(my son now does handsprings!),swim, and the list goes on and on... To this day, my children do sit ups daily to keep their stomachs tight. They learned that in P.E.! We were deeply saddened when it was time to move on. I highly recommend Summit Elementary! They were our family!

My daughter graduated 6th grade in 2005 and my 2 boys are still attending Summit. I tried public school for one year and I regret it. I can not say enough about the wonderful staff and how they treat our kids like family. The school utilizes community resources to teach, like trips to the library, Science Center, The Herberger, Phx Symphony, Washington DC, re-enacting the Revolutionary War in California, and so on. The greatest thing about Summit Elementary is that the staff communicates with the kids and their families and genuinely wants parental involvement. Go Summit Stingers!

My son Loves Summit. He is learning so quickly, and is blossuming. Summit provides The right enviroment for Children to one on one instruction and assesment from the teachers. Summit is a wonderful school.

This school has provided my son with the individual attention that children are lacking in much larger schools. The teachers are like one big family, they make your child feel supported and cared for. The environment of the school has not compared to any other that I have reasearched. Not only are the teachers wonderful, the students are well behaved and special. My son loves school, I thank Summit for that.

Summit has been an excellent choice for my 7 yr old grandson who is entering his third year at this school. It is a small school smack dab in the middle of a big ciry that takes advantage of it's location in the Phoenix Cultural District. As well as the wonderful back to traditional cirriculum, the children are offered field trips to plays, the ballet, the bear factory and a dairy farm. The older kids have gone places like Washington DC, New Orleans and Catalina Island. The teachers truly care about what they are doing and take pride in turning out some great kids. This is the perfect place for learning and growing. It has been amazing to watch my grandson do both!

My son attended this school for 3 years We loved this school, he did better at this school than any other before, he really needed the individual attention he got and the teachers and Principal are so wonderful and caring I hated for him to graduate 6th grade I wish he could have gone there longer!

An awesome school that focuses on reading. The goals at Summit are met by all.

Summit has an excellent principal, excellent teachers, and the staff truly care about the well-being, development and education of the children who attend.

This school has awsome teachers and staff, my sister had to live with me for a short period of time this school helped her greatly.
