Ignacio Conchos School Reviews

April 25, 2009 Ignacio Conchos has progressively improved in the last two years. The Culture and Climate at the school makes any one feel welcome. Teachers work really hard to help the students succeed. They spend many non-paid hours on behalf of the students. Conchos is not under performing any more, but performing, and working day and night to achieve Performing Plus. Hurray for Conchos, Hurray for the students, hurray for a dedicated staff, from cafeteria to administration!

After reading some of the reviews, most of them dated 2005 or earlier I don't see how this will be heard but it must be said that Conchos is an awful place for a student to attend. Teachers are quick to give students referals and officials are quick to suspend. No wonder kids are unhappy, they get no support from those who will impact their lives for ever. I still remember my elementary teachers and can tell you those that I hated and those i loved to go to class to. Why the difference? Maybe because one understood me and tried to help and others gave up on me and considered me a failure. Nevertheless those teachers impacted me positively and negatively. I work with schools and see first hand the actions of teachers with their students. There is a saying at work, 'those are the people that teach our kids?'

I have three kids that attended Conchos.I also attended Conchos and this school is not like it use to be, back then we had teachers and principals that cared, now it's not like that. The teachers are ready to give referrals for anything and the vice principal is ready to suspend our kids for petty things how are our kids going to learn anything if they don't go to school. Well two of my kids are off to High School and my daughter will be attending another school that will work with her better due to her learning disability. There are some teachers at Conchos that care but not a lot it seems like when we do get the teachers that care we end up loosing them some how. I have a hard time understanding this school.....

My child was pulled from Conchos as I no longer wanted to subject her to a less than satisfactory education. Another factor was the disciplinary problems that are rather obvious when you visit the school. My child's report cards and school notices were sent home in Spanish, although our family's primary language is English. There are some wonderful individuals that are strong advocates for changing the direction of the school, but lack the necessary support in helping them succeed, either by parents or admin.

I have 4 kids going to conchos and seen some good improvements in the last 4 years. However our school is still failing below average. The teachers are working hard to make sure 'no kids are left behind'. The strict dress code and the no recess in the morning and the new principle has nothing to do with our childrens education! I see the teachers at the dollar stores often. We need more help from the state and possably more side by side with the children that dont speak, read, write in english. If you dont know the language the testing will show! Were not failing in art, music or sports. Were failing in math, reading, writing! Two of my boys teachers say they want to test them for gifted classes, however they are below average from my nephews in the same grade that attend a mesa public

I have three children, one already through high school, one currently in high school and one still attending conchos. There was a time when conchos was a fairly good school to attend. It is unfortunate that my latter two children have had to endure the poor quality and lack of leadership that was in place. I've seen a time when my son, now in high school, thank goodness, went through four teachers, in one year! He even had the PE teacher teaching, who turned out to be the best one out of the four! My youngest will have to endure this last year before entering high school where it will be a whole new ballgame as far as academic professionalism and quality. I just think its sad some parents have had to 'settle' and that the state has had to step in instead of being proactive.

Conchos is a great school. The teachers are great and they provide a good learning environment to the students. The teachers there are constantly undergoing professional development training. No matter what the newspapers say, Conchos is a great school and is growing due to the new home construction nearby. Keep up the great work!

I think I.G. Conchos is a great school for students. It is the best school my daughter has gone to. They have afterschool activities.

I know you have heard this before, but I want to emphasis how important it is to talk freguently to your childs teacher. By this time there patience are running thin. If you show interest in helping them with some of there task, it shows that you are aware of the difficulties they have to go though and that you are willing to help.
