Kyrene Monte Vista School Reviews

We moved here 2 years ago and have 2 boys at KMV. I am very impressed with the quality and dedication of the teachers and my kids love it here. I would highly recommend it to any family.

Our son enrolled at Monte Vista for first grade after attending another Kyrene district school for kindergarten, and we were just a bit concerned about the whole 'new school' thing. Our son's teacher has made all the difference. She welcomed him into her classroom and made him feel a part of things from Day 1--she's an amazing, dedicated professional. The school overall is welcoming, and parents are indeed very involved. We highly recommend this public school.

This is a terrific school. Small class size, great teachers, lots of activities, high standards or learning and very involved parents. We now have moved and I definitely gave serious thought to keeping my child at the school despite the additional hour daily commute time it would add.

Kyrene Monte Vista is a wonderful school. I have two children there for the last 3 years. The teachers are great...both children are excelling and learning so fast...they love school! The principal, Dr. Shimkus, is also wonderful...caring, involved, and has made good, appropriate choices in running the school. PTO is great...many involved and caring parents, of course it never seems like enough though, does it? The volunteers in the classrooms are awesome. Each class has at least 1/3-1/2 of the parents volunteering regularly within the class or school activities. The school grounds are friendly, open, with many parents picking up and chatting and physically being around and involved with their children! I know of several families that have chosen this school to attend from outside the boundaries, taking advantage of its open enrollment...some coming in from Maricopa and even Avondale! This school is excelling and is a state ranked A+!

Outstanding school. My daughter loves going to school everyday. Teachers are outstanding and principal is very involved. MV has a strong PTO and parental involvement.

The Principal, Dr. Shimkus, is great! Calm and caring, attentive and capable. She has a PhD. The Hertiage Garden adds a natural and artistic touch. Teachers are highly qualified and there is little staff turnover. Relaxing music is played over the intercom to create a soothing atmosphere. Laptops are being used by first graders to do research. Parents are on well educated. Most parents drop off and pick up their children. Also, there is a strong PTO and a lot of parent volunteering in the classrooms. Students are diverse and well mannered. Overall a very happy place to learn!

One of my 2 children goes to MV, but I am not satisfied with the curriculum, having said that all the teachers that my child has had have been outstanding, but they are hampered by district and state curriculm and policies. MV has not done enough on sports, music and art, although that would be a district cut back issue. I believe the administration focuses too much on the AIMS and other state required tests and not enough on teaching new curriculum. Overall, good but not great.

What a great elementary school! The principal, teachers & parents are dedicated to students success & go above & beyond! They are continuing to add wonderful after school enrichment programs that are fun & educational! My children really enjoy attending this school. Monte Vista gets an A+!

A great public school, recently rated A+ by the state of Arizona. I am happy with the level of caring by teachers and principal and the involvement of parents in the community.

This school is attended by one of my two children, and my child has made many friends there. The communication between schoool/parents/teachers is excellent, especially compared with other schools my children have attended. We always know what is going on here! The curriculum is so-so, but that is the state's responsibility, no fault of the school. there are some great afterschool extracurricular activities which are quite affordable.

My daughter loves all the new friends she has made in kindergarten.

I have been very pleased with the progress that my son who attends Monte Vista has been making. The faculty is very reasonable to work with and appear to closely monitor student achievement.

I am pleased to say that Monte Vista is an excellent school. Teacher and parent involvement are very high. The students progress is top priority.
