Liberty Elementary School Reviews

The principal, Drew Davis, is very interested in the students and does a great job motivating them to do their best as well as be mindful of responsibility, safety and being respectful. The teachers are truly caring and the parent involvement is incredible. Despite budget cuts recently, I think the school is doing remarkably well in focusing on the child's overall education. My child has somewhat special needs and I have had nothing but genuine interest, courteousness, and helpfulness from the teachers, counselors, and the nurse. I see great improvement in his learning and amazed at what he does in just starting second grade!

My son completed Kindergarten this year (07-08). We were very pleased with the school. His teacher Mrs. Boyd was phenomenal. We could not have asked for a better experience for him. There is also a very high level of parent involvement.

This school works with children of all levels and helps each one achieve their potential. The parent involvment is exceptional.

I went to Liberty from K-6th Grade between 1979 and 1985. I loved the school and my teachers so much that now I have my son enrolled. He's in Kindergarten (Ms. Carter's class) and he LOVES it! He has learned to read and write just since the beginning of Kindergarten. Awesome! We love you Liberty!

Both of our children attended Liberty from kindergarten through 6th grade. We loved the teachers, the staff, the community and couldn't have asked for a better experience. We particularly loved Ms. Yelas, Mrs. Boyd, Mrs. Miller and the entire 6th grade team. My children were well prepared to move on to junior high and high school because of the dedication of the staff. I would recommend Liberty to anyone!

I must say, as a single mom of 6, my twins who are in 6th grade are ok with liberty.I was just about to pull my children away from Liberty because of a very aloof Dr.londer who did not take any intrest in my questions about why he had called me to discuss my childrens behaivor, and did not show up twice for a parent meeting with him. But then a very nice pricipal, Mr.Drew Davis showed up. H e is very nice, so my children say. But yesterday my kids told me that one of them had called anothet kid a mean word and that kid had thrown a rock at his foot. My child told me he had gotten yelled at harshly by one of the aids and that a ton of kids get yelled at by recess/playgroun supervisors.Rather than that the learning is great!

Liberty is a good school but I am concerned about the class sizes. Although the average class size that is listed on this website match up to other public schools in Arizona, my daughter has 27 children in her class in first grade! I feel that this is far too many children in a class for that age. Not to mention that there are some special needs children in the class to add to the teacher's challenges.

Liberty is an exceptional school. My daughters have attended for 5 years. The teachers are dedicated and work wonderfully with me and the girls. They are never bothered when I call or stop by and talk to them. The girls are excited about the new things they learn on a daily basis. Our experience has not been traumatic and the girls far exceeded our expectations. Thank You. An Invoved Parent!

I couldn't ask for more in public education.

My son, my husband and I love this school. His Kindergarten teacher Ms Ayres was the best and he enjoyed everyday. He was sad to see it end. As family we found Liberty to be the best!

Liberty Elementary has a lot to offer to its students. Most of the teachers would be considered excellent in my book. Notable standouts include Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Simpson, Mr. Kautenberger, Mrs. Yelas, and Mrs. Scibienski. Besides great educators, Liberty has an exceptional array of extracurricular activities, including chorus, band, and strings, as well as a decent after-school program. The school itself casts an aura of learning that would make anyone proud. Probably the only downside to the school is the front office staff. They are not particularly friendly. Dr. Londer, the principal, also has a tendancy to seem uninterested when potential concerns are brought to his atttention. Honestly, I have not had much to be concerned about, so I can overlook those flaws. Five stars overall.

Liberty has great parent involvement. The office staff takes their job to heart and knows most of the students by name. My child has had only positive remarks about her teachers, staff and classmates. All day K gave her the groundwork to become an excellent student who's reading skills are above par. Her first grade teacher stated that she has many students in her class that read very well and she attributes it to the full day K. I do disagree with the principal's 'thumbs up' awards as it is not fair to the child who has a quieter nature vs those who crave attention and only do 'good deeds' when someone is watching them.

Very focused on test scores and their test scores are very good, but not as focused on the child and diverse learning styles as other schools. Although the kids end up learning, I'm not sure the school can create lifelong learners who are motivated to learn on their own with this approach.

Liberty is an excellent public school. I did two years of research before moving to this area based on the schools alone. My daughter does very well at this school, she is a very high acheiver and Liberty helps with programs that specialize towards her and her needs (though only after a voicing a concern that she was being left behind and was not being challenged enough). I do feel however that the faculty could be a bit more helpful in allowing students to organize and follow through with community projects, and the Honor's Classes here, well quite frankly, needs to be geared back to the academic levels. I realize this is an elementary school, but this is the level where thier furture desire for continuing education blooms. 3rd grade is not too soon to begin prepping for college, yet that extent of education seems to be parent guided.

I have been a Liberty Parent for 5 yrs. My oldest son was encouraged by Karen Kennedy and the honors program. She gave him the confidence and knowledge to handle the 'beyond Liberty' honors program. She is a fantastic teacher and a beautiful person. My youngest son has had teachers that really care about him as an individual. As a single parent, their 'helping hand' approach has been a real comfort. Thanks Ms. Yeals, Mrs. Edwards, Mrs. Kennedy and Dr. Londer!

We have had our son at Liberty for five years and our younger son is soon to be enrolled in Kindergarten. We have had such great experiences with the teachers, staff and administration. Our son is an honors student there and it is because of his first grade teacher that we were encouraged to place him in honors; which he has excelled at. The environment and the surrounding community is just awesome and we love our neighborhod. Liberty does an outstanding job at prevention and interaction with different community aspects and the kids love their school - which is brand new by the way; rebuilt in 2003.

My children have attended Liberty Elementary School for the past two years. They have had excellent teachers and have had an excellent experience at the school. We have been very happy with the principal, Dr. Gary Londer, the front office staff, the nurse, and the teaching staff. My children have especially enjoyed the annual grade level fieldtrips. My children attended a charter school for the first several years, and we were impressed with the quality of education they have received from this public school. My son has also benefited from the speech program and before-school reading classes. We would highly recommend this school .

Great school. Excellent after school programs. Low student to teacher ratios.

We have three children attending Liberty and have been very pleased with the teachers especially Ms. Yelas. Two of the children have had her for their teacher. I would also like to comment on the after school kindergarten program. Even though I am happy to see the all day kindergarten become effective next year, the teachers have done an excellent job this year and I thank you. Everyone I know has a very high regard for this school and think they do their very best.

Our son is in Kindergarten. We love his teacher, Mrs. Anderson. Dr. Londer, the principal, is excellent. He focuses on reading. The kids seem to know him which, I believe, means he gets out of his office and meets them. Our son's first experience in school was important to us. I could not be happier with his experience.

Dr. Londer empowers his teachers to teach and make decisions om the classroom. The thumbs up program is a positive motivating factor in promoting excellent behavior and an atmosphere and safety and learning. Tisha Diffie
