Madison #1 Elementary School Reviews

yes, some of the rules are a bit ridiculous with having to have our teachers walk us to every single class, but you have to know that it is only for our safety from the past. im on the schools varsity softball and volleyball team. let me tell you, madison #1 teams dominate. the teachers are great, always coming up with fun new ways to help us learn. the girls p.e. coach is the best of them all. she is always pushing you to your full potential and loves seeing you succeed. she has been a big influence in my life. this is a school that would benefit your child.

Now that Madison #1 has a new administration starting the 08-09 school year this school is incredible as they are strong in safety and discipline. The teachers don't have to address discipline issues on their own and are finally able to teach! My kids are so happy and feel safe. The honors program is wonderful. I believe the poor reviews below are a result of the lack of leadership and vision from previous administrations. I joined the parents this year with a sigh of relief because of the new change. My kids always come home happy.

Great school, teachers are wonderful, strong honors program. Many years of experience with this school and I have nothing but positive things to say.

as astudent some of the rules are horrible but the teachers are okay some teachers dont allowus to talk about questions durinbg class!!!

The main thing that Madison #1 has on it's side is it's previous reputation. Teacher turn over rate is still poor. Kids are given unearned grades. Kids' homework is largely ungraded and looked at primarily for 'effort', rather than being correct. Despite much effort in dialogue with school administrators, little has changed. Sadly, my child's education has suffered. If you are seriously concerned with the value of your child's education...please keep them away from Madison #1. You will be given lip service only and your child will suffer. Don't let the 'Madison' name fool you!!!!

My children's last 2 years at No. 1 were dismal. Teacher turnover was high, adminstrators were not supportive, discipline was lax, curriculum was weak. Luckily, they went on to a strong high school honor programs were they caught up and flourished. I hope things have improved, but if I had it to do over, I would have sent them elsewhere.

Madison School District is OUTSTANDING. My son attended Camelview and is now at Madison #1. The professionalism of the staff is superior. The caring and kindness is outstanding. My son receives speech therapy and the whole education team has exceeded our expectations. Staff & adminstrators work as a team as well as including the child and caregiver. We are always able to communicate and get feedback immediately. Our son LOVES going to school-the variety of courses is wonderful; he repeats constantly various lessons learned in history and science. I highly recommend the Madison School District. They care.

Great school - good honors program. Quality teachers.

Schools counselors and staff are great. Truly seem committed to helping the students. Surprised by the lack of homework but happy with what my daughter seems to be learning. Too bad that the schools have to cut their budgets and offer fewer programs but there are some good programs in the school.

Madison #1 has been a great school for my son, developing him academically and socially.

So far this school seems to be doing good. Lots of activites and sports.

Good quality of academic programs. OK extracurricular activities, not many choices or options for lower-income students. Parent involvement seems a little below average.

My daughter is in the 5th grade at Madison #1. She is in their AEP program for advanced learners. Recently they participated in Project Citizen and competed with other schools in their district. They went on to state finals and finished in 3rd place. I was so amazed with these children. The amount of research and results they received, I would have expected from junior high kids. Their AEP classes truly do benefit the children. The only thing I would be conserned about would be the class sizes. The larger class sizes make it hard for students who either excel or have difficulties keep up with the class. The excelling kids tend to get bored, while the other struggles to keep up with the rest. This seems to be a common problem with most schools though.

I have a son at Madison #1 he is in the 5h grade and doing very well. The teachers are very friendly and if I have a problem with someting about his work the teacher is there to talk about it. My son is on the Honer Roll and he enjoys being there. With his baseballl and boy scoutsw he still has time to do is work. The teacher keeps the work interesting so he does not get board. I am very pleased with how the teachers are always there to help my son thank you.

It is not really the teachers fault, #1 lacks the quality students ready to learn. Few students here are college bound!

I went to Madison # 1 when I was young and so did my daughter. The school has improved so much from when I went there. They have a great principal and wonderful teachers. Madison # 1 has high standards for success and prepares students for their high school years. AIMS, Standford 9, etc. scores are always higher than other schools similar to it. The school also offers many extra curricular activities for the students as well. Such as sports like basketball, volleyball, baseball,(which all include JV and Varsity), softball, cheer, intermural football, and soccer. Other activities/crews/clubs include NJHS, yearbook, pond crew, MITS(a drama club), student council, tutoring/mentoring, and many others. Along with the core classes of math, LA, science, and social studies, there are encore classes such as art, Technology, spanish, band, etc. Overall, Madison # 1 provides a fun, safe, learning environment for all students!

I have 2 kids new this year at Madison One from a Deer Valley school and the kids have never been more motivated or happy! I think this school has been great and my kids are doing better than ever!

Well Im not a parent, but I am a former student. I loved my experience and time that I spent there for my middle school years. It was one of the best schools I had been to.

Teacher turnover is high and the district needs to return to a basic curriculum.
