O'Connor Elementary School Reviews

My child attends this school and I am very sad to report that in less than six (6) months this school has started to crumble. When my child had a problem with a teacher I, as a parent, could not talk to the teacher without the principle present. Never, when dealing with a teacher have this ever hqppen before. I feel the concerns of my child is so far on the back burner. When the new school year start I willgive them 30 days or we will change school very quickly.

There is a new principal at the school that doesn't listen to parents concerns or issues. There are aides that work in the lunchroom that are just outright mean to the kids. Several parents have went to the principal with these problems and they just don't get dealt with. My sons kindergarden teach is wonderful though and my son loves her. My child will not be attending this school next year.

I am so glad that my daughter attends O'Connor. The staff and her teacher are AWESOME!

I can't say enough good things about O'Connor, and especially Dr. Green. She is the most involved principal around. I am amazed how she knows everyone's name and is active in all classes and around the campus. She is the reason this school is successful and the teachers are fantastic! My children have excelled academically and socially. When there was a concern with one of my children the teachers were concerened and helpful as well. Communication is also key, the teachers have always been willing to meet with me or return my phone calls, or even respond to the notes the kids give to them. Very impressed and thankful for such a great school!

Mrs. Green the principal is very involved my children have enjoyed getting to know her. My children have found their teachers to be very kind and thoughtful toward them. I had a K & 2nd grader this last year. It took me a while to figure out the 2nd grade teachers communication with me. I felt threatened by her for most of the year till I realized she just doesn't think before she speaks, and not to take her statements personally. I was frustrated with the 2nd grade teachers lack of flexibility toward my child, choosing that the child shouldn't have a problem with things unless he had a problem himself. I should have been more firm about him getting what he needed, I know Mrs. Green would've been more than willing to work with us. You can choose to be as involved as you want at this school.

I had a very positive experience with my child's kindergarten class. The teacher was caring, yet structured and it was a great experience for my son.

Love the teachers, of course my child is only in Kindergarden, but it has been a great experience for me and my child. Parent involvement is up to you.

My child is enrolled in the preschool language program. His teach, Pat Hornor is one of the best teachers I have had the honor of meeting. She is extremely dedicated. The speech pathologist assigned to the class is less dedicted. The school is located in a good area. The front office has always been helpful and courteous.

This school is very committed to its parents and students. The principal is fantastic! Rarely will you find a principal who is so involved in the daily activities such as: classroom monitoring, bus duty, wiping tables in the cafeteria, etc. Most of the teachers are pretty friendly as well. Most teachers encourage volunteering and parent involvement. I have two children who are currently attending this school. I feel very privileged to have such caring staff to teach and care for my children. Any time I have had a concern, the teachers or staff were available and willing to help me fix the situation. Communication at this school is wonderful. I have always felt very comfortable here. In fact, when we recently moved, I asked for and received a boundary exception. I really feel that my children have the opportunity to reach their academic potential with the help of this school. This school does not just focus on the children who are struggling academically, but they also work with students who are already above average to increase and maintain their academic success.
