“This school went through several years where it was really struggling, but has made some serious changes for the better. For the first time it has the same administration two years in a row - three great people who are really there for the students. There are many after school tutoring programs, a great band program that a fifth of the school is involved in, and great sports teams. Discipline and teacher control of the students has also improved a lot, and the parent coordinator has spent two years now increasing parent involvement. While there is still a lot of work left to do, Pueblo is definitely heading in the right direction.”

The school has shown considerable growth over the last few years, and continues to focus not only on academics, but also crucial life skills that are essential for success in the real world. “Pueblo has many dedicated and caring teachers, a great sports program and many extra-curricular opportunities. However they have a lot going against them since they seem to have a new principal every year, the playing fields are never repaired and many of the students are still learning English so test comparisons don't reflect the quality of instruction.”

“I don't think this school is as bad as other parents say it is. I have aslo gone to pueblo and the kids were not going crazy. I think it depends on the principle scince there has been different principles. This year I think they have a good principle, becuase I have seen a lot of kids behaving.”

“I have 2 children attending this school and it is a nightmare. They are in no way safe. I've tried time and again to get the teachers to communicate with me to no avail. I've given home phone, cell phone, email addresses, and have gotten no response. They will be attending another school in Peoria next year. Peoria is a great school district, and I was lucky to get them in there. This school would be better off closed.”

“My experiences at this school have been almost a nightmare. My son was an honor roll student in elementary school and is performing horribly at Pueblo. How does an honor roll student all of a sudden start failing? I believe it's a combination of poor leadership at the school starting from the principal all the way down to the teachers, and the fact that the parents are not involved in any way with their children. The distractions are unbelieveable! My wife took the teachers up on sitting in the classroom for a day where she witnessed students putting hair spray on during class, students throwing things around the classroom, students cursing like sailors, students taking off their shoes and putting their feet up on the desk etc. These are things that went on when she was there! Can you imagine how the class might be when parents aren't there? As a parent I am going to do what ever it takes to move my child away. I want to make sure that anyone who reads this comment doesn't take this as a personal attack on any individuals within the school. I believe the parents are more at fault than anyone. School isn't a daycare system.”

“I read the comments and it sounds all too familiar to me. Teachers need to be more structure in teaching and not acting as if the students are in control in what they need to do. Also teachers do need to get involve when they have bullies in their class rooms so other students can be safe and not be scared to go to class most of the time the teachers turns away. The Principal have to sit down with the Teachers and try to come up with a better way to teach and keep our kids safe.”
