My daughter is in 6th grade and rarely has any homework. If they want a child to succeed then they should believe in homework. Since they have implemented a new grading system the teachers are spending most of time trying trying to figure it out. I think the principle is prejudiced, and needs to learn how to interact with parents. If the leadership is not right, then it trickles down. They are always very pleasant and welling to assist my children and myself with any questions or concerns we may have. I have a son that went to Santa Maria for 3 years and is now in high school. I would say that I am shocked at the other parents comments. I feel Santa Maria is a great school. My son is at the top of his math class in Algebra and is learning consistently. My daughter is an honor roll student also and I feel that the teaching staff is very good. I feel that there is a lack of parent involvment especially at the sporting events.
