Tempe High School Reviews

This is a fairly typical school. Perhaps a little worse than others in Tempe, but not too terrible.

I think its a great school. My son went there for all 4 years of high school and I thought that he got a great educaton.

I went to Tempe High School for almost my entire high school education with the exception of only a few months. I enjoyed my time there. The teachers we're caring and supportive. The education was on par with any other high school in the district. The student were no diffrent than any other from any other school. I enjoyed the diversity of the school and the uniformity that the students presented.

Tempe High is an excellent school with very motivated students. It allows the children there to be able to express their feelings towards education and their actions towards learning

This school has gotten a poor reputation as a school containing 'bad kids' but this school actually is an excellent school. The sports programs are starting to turn around and become more competitive. The kids here are an excellent crowd and I'm proud my son graduated from this high school.

Overall in my opinion more than half the school are the bad crowd, who you don't want to hang out with.

This school has a lot of room for improvement. I went to this school and they really do not care about the students. I would never reccomend this school if you care about your childs education.

Academics are mediocre with few options for top students. The arts and music programs have lost support under the current administration. I moved my child to a different school.

My brother and I attended Tempe High. I attended from 1998-2001, and my younger brother attended from 2002-2005. At the time of my attendance the school was riddled with a horrible football team, and worse academic programs. The entire extra curricular activities were based on a football team that produced less than noteworthy victories. Many of the academic needs were over looked and brushed aside. Badly outdated computers and a minimal library were among the few technology constraints. There was one teacher at the time that did more than humanly possible to correct these problems and help students above and beyond. For the most part the rest of the staff sat back and complained, but did nothing to help correct these actions. The same results held true during my younger brother s attendance, which later led to him transferring to a much better school.

My older son graduated from THS and my younger son is presently a Sophomore. I have had great relationships with all of the teachers my sons have had. The teachers truly care about the students and provide challenging homework and assignments. The school has a great technology curriculum (Cisco Academy, A+ certification, Computer graphics and animation). The arts program include excellent Band, Choir, Orchestra, Drama, and Dance. In addition the school offers a wide variety of sports programs (Football, Wrestling, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Track and Field, Cross-country, Golf, Badminton and more). There are numerous after school clubs for nearly every interest. The gifted education program is filled with opportunities for extra curricular activities such as performances at Gammage auditorium, Lecture and performance series at ASU, as well as guest lecturer discussion series at a brown bag lunch affair on current topics or issues. The curriculum also offers Advanced Placement courses for college credit and Honors courses to challenge the student. The ethnic diversity of the campus is a wonderful asset to enrich the learning environment. THS has been a great environment for both of my sons.
