Faith North Reviews

What do chickens, herbs, and basketball have in common? Faith North Montessori, a place where children get to explore and learn independence. I highly recommend Faith North.

No way! This can't be a public school--the teachers are outstanding, beautiful campus and both my children are happy, content, and flourishing--A++

We've had two children at Faith North for 4 years now. We did not come to the decision of their school lightly. Before deciding what school our children would attend, I visited several other Montessori schools in the area, and chose this over the others. We enjoy the balanced approach Faith North brings with primary emphasis being placed on Montessori principles yet adhering to public school requirements (testing, district guidelines, etc.) With 2 children, we've been fortunate to experience 4 amazing teachers from grades Pre-K through 4th (conceivably 6th)now. With Susan having been Principal for the past two years, the administration is really putting the icing on the cake now. We cannot say enough good about the program and are very thankful that our children have an opportunity to be there.

It is a blessing to have a quality public school like Faith North Montessori! My daughter has been enrolled at Faith North since Pre-K and is now entering the 4th grade. We could not be happier with her experiences at Faith North. The campus is clean and beautiful -- well maintained gardens and open courtyard is a warm welcome each day. Earth friendly practices and outdoor environment education is alive at Faith North. The teachers are kind and caring. The children are nurtured and celebrated in ways that would make Maria Montessori proud. Faith North is a wonderful partnership between Montessori education and the public school system. Many cheers to the Principal, the administration, the loving teachers and the community!

I have two children in Faith North Montessori school. I am very happy with the program and the teachers. It's a happy nurturing environment in which children can develop at their own pace. We couldn't ask for a better Principal and administrative staff.

My child has been at Faith North for 3 years. I have found the school an extremely positive environment. My child has blossomed. Children are allowed to progress at their own speed, while still being guided and directed. My child excelled so much at math in kindergarten that he moved beyond addition and subtraction and was working on multiplication. If he had been stuck in a traditional kindergarten his math would have been determined by the ability of the other children in class. The teachers and administration of Faith North want the children to succeed and keep the children's best interest in the forefront. I have also found that any conflict my child has been involved in was handled in a timely and effective manner. Faith North is racially and socieconomically diverse, and doesn't have the snobbery shared by other Montessori schools in Phoenix. Faith North Montessori is a happy school.

My son has attended upper elem and now middle school at Faith North. I highly recommend Faith North. Mrs. Roam and Ms. Sotelo are excellent teachers who really care about their students. If you are a parent that blames others for your child's lack of success or boredom, then you may want to homeschool. Montessori is not for every one. Children with discipline problems or those that can't keep focused may not thrive in a school that teaches cause & effect and responsibility.

I'm so grateful for this public program. I am a big believer in the Montessori Method. My son attended a well regarded charter program for 3 years. In his third year we discovered he has a learning disability and we were not provided necessary accomodations for my smart, but challenged little guy. He made no reading progress for nearly a year. At Faith, his teacher was so willing to help. He quickly made large strides and is now reading at grade level. It's still a struggle for him, but his teacher is willing to work hard and go that extra mile to help my non-conventional learner grow to his potential.

It was great was it first. Son learned alot from grades preschool to 3 than not so much after that. Students didn't get enough lessons got bored easily do same stuff over and over

The teachers while montessori trained do not seem to know how to manage integrating it into a classroom. My student was lost in the crowd and discipline is goes unaddressed. Keep looking for a true montessori school and leadership.

The review from Feb. 19th, described many of the difficulties found in this growing program, but I am hopeful that with the right people, things will get better within the organizsation. If you have average, or high achieving, compliant children, they will do well here. Some teachers are gifted with dealing with special children. Choose your class carefully and try not to be bothered by the rumor mill. The facilities on the North campus are gorgeous, but looks can be deceiving when it comes to what is happening inside.

At this school each child is an individual and education of the child is approached that way. Students are never expected to hold back while the rest of the class catches up and are offered extra help with resource teachers if needed.

My children continue to thrive at Faith North. They are excelling in all areas and their math skills are exceptional. In first grade my oldest daughter was reading chapter books and mastering multiplication. My youngest daughter is a kinder and is reading and has mastered addition and subtraction facts. I have many friends at other Montessori schools and Faith North is absolutely in line with them academically. The staff is fantastic- caring and solid. The principal goes above and beyond to provide a environment where children can explore and learn and grow. I feel blessed to have found a school where my children can achieve great things and be loved in a wonderful, beautiful environment.

Everything looks great on the outside, but since there is a pervasive dynamic of CYA, there is no real dialogue with those who run the school. PTA meetings are opportunities for grand-standing. Some of the teachers are as about as Montessori as a drill instructor. Montessori seems to be a bit of a novelty here, and those who run this school do so with a smugness that is absolutely antithetical to the principles of Montessori education.

I have been with the faith north school for 3 years! Mrs. Valdez, Mr. Robert, Mrs. chacon have really helped me these past three years well actually i ended up moving and it was a really bad decision! so faith north you rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our family has been part of the school for 4 years and hoped to help build a strong public Montessori school. Unfortunately, poor instructional leadership, lack of integrity in administrators, and a desire to increase enrollment without maintaining quality are problems that continue to get worse. Lack of quality and consistency in art, music and P.E. Because of these problems, and lack of leadership response, over 14 families left in the first 3 months of the school year and many more families have left throughout the year. Some good and dedicated teachers, but the newer teachers struggle without proper support.

After spending 4 years at Faith North we moved out child to another school. The environment is wonderful and the staff caring. Unfortunately it is very difficult to find Montessori teachers. This coupled with the district's desire to increase enrollment has harmed the academic areas of the program. The teachers mean well. It's just not a good situation.

Faith north is a good school, the students ar ewell mannered, and very friendly.

Academic programs seems to lag behind those of other Montessori schools.

My child has been attending this school for the past 2 years. We are very pleased, the staff is phenomenal as for the curriculum it's exceptional. This school is preparing the leaders of tomorrow.

I love this school. My kids never want to miss school. The teachers are great and they spend all the time our kids need. This school has it all great activities, fun field trips. I love this school as much as my kids do!

This school is definitely not Montessori, regardless of the name! Instead, the administrators seem to pick and choose what parts of Montessori education they deem appropriate. For example: When our children went to school there, they learned to sing Christmas carols, read stories on Christmas, and made Christmas crafts. Kwaanza, Hannukah, and other winter festivals were never discussed. This is odd, as true Montessori schools are about diversity. Of course, diversity is also an issue: In a district in which 90% of the student population is Hispanic, this particular school has a huge Caucasian population! Of course, they would when all prospective parents are made to fill out an application for enrollment, which no administrator will admit to reading or using in the selection criteria. The whole program is bizaare, and there does not seem to be any oversight by the District on staff or the program itself.
