Western Valley Middle School Reviews

This school is faboulous. They may not meet your standerds but they meet my Mine. This school is not a failing school. stop blaming the kids or the teachers its no ones fault. Kids are just lazy these days. trust me i know.

The school has undergone massive changes that are getting the school on track for success. The principal is an instructional leader who is very visible every single day and spends a great deal of time working with teachers and others. The Assistant Principal is also very helpful and most teachers have shown a great deal of concern for students. Parent meetings have a high rate of attendance, and the school is doing much more to recognize the students who are doing well, not just those that are not. I am not sure who posted on October 3rd but they base their rating on the types of students the school is trying to educate but with their own with a racist bias. And before they post they should check their 'Englis'. Those who are critical are often those who lack the understanding and patience to make a difference.

As you can see by the lack of English skills and basic grammar that these students are sub-standard. I know that sounds harsh, but it's true. They are enabled by parents that have no interest in assimilating into mainstream American culture and society. It appears that the vast majority of the parents and students have little interest in learning to speak proper Englis. These people have brought the worst of what is Mexico to Arizona. It is really a very sad situation. The people that run or should I say, hide out at the district office are completely out of touch with reality. As soon as their work day is trough they jump in their BMWs and high tail it back to white Scottsdale or central Phoenix. It appears that these people are imposing so bizaar flavor of the month philosophy upon the teachers like the ridiculous Curriculum Mapping.

Western valley is one of the best schools i have been to so many teachers to support us im in the eighth grade and most of the teachers are prety mean im not going to say any name of those people but as well as the good teachers who have helped us a lot not just in school but in our lives Mr.Baxter is one of the most suportive teachers i have ever had none of the other teachers have not supported me as much as he has.

This school has come a long way since I first go there. The principle however has unfortunatly stayed the same. The school has added another sport to its list giving its students more chances to be involved, but thier inelgible system takes chances away from students as well. Progress reports come out weekly. They use the 2 strikes and your out system which leave most students out of a sport for the rest of the season.

as a student going to western valley in the 7th grade. i really think that the principal is not showing any leadership. on the other hand i do like some of my AP classes. the teacher that i think will always be number 1 in AP and teaching is MRS.SYRACUSE. she wants this school to be peforming but it is hard with all this kids that are slacking of and dont even care but thank you mrs.syracuse for keeping it always challenging. =]

This school has the potential to be great if they had better leadership from principal. The teachers are great but need to have more support from the administration. Overall, I believe that if they changed the administration they would see better things for the future.

I have never seen a school offer so little support to its teachers. Western Valley Middle School has some of the most talented and brightest teachers especially those teaching sixth grade. The special education program in sixth grade has never been stronger. More positive recognition needs to occur so that the students see a positive learning environment. I know my eighth grader thinks the discipline is inconsistent and that there is a lack of respect.

As a student currently in the 06,07 school year this school is pretty good. The prinipal shows hardly any leadership. The teachers are the best especally Mr.Sandford, Mr. Speath and Mrs. Syracuse. Also I was on the basketball team the parent invole ment was great. Overall the school has some minor problems they have to deal with.

This school seems to have caring individuals, a bit out of touch with what needs to be a realistic behavior management system, needs to be follow through with rules-boundaries-girls need more self esteem groups at this age- some teachers are low functioning, but they care, and that is what counts-strive for higher!

I am the parent of two students attending the middle school. I can tell you the academics are great, some teachers are wonderfull, some seem to be in the wrong field work,as well as the front staff. As for Mr.Daniels the principal i feel he is judgemental towards the students.

I have children at WVMS and the teacher quality is great for the most part. Ms. Armstrong is the best teacher my child has ever had and she truly cares for these kids, not just as a teacher but as a mentor. Principal Daniels has been less than impressive. There is also very little follow-up on concerns, often with no response at all or an argument against the concern. I believe this school has some really awesome teachers and the quality of education has been good for my children. Very little in extracurricular activities offered. I do not see much invitation for parental involvement and much of what a parent could be involved in is done during normal work hours.

My niece and nephew attend Western Valley Middle School. I have met with Mr. Daniels. I do not feel that this school has parent involvement because the administration does not welcome it. It appears to me that the administration views parents as just one more pain they don't really want to deal with. These factors contribute to the lack of extra curricular activities as well.

As a parent of a 7th grader during the 04/05 school year, I have been very pleased with the administrators and the staff at WVMS. Mr. Daniels has always taken a sincere interest in my child's education. My daughter tells me that her favorite teachers are Mr. Lowry and Mrs. Chalmers. They have always kept me informed about my daughter's grades and progress and as she goes into eight grade she and I both will miss their professionalism and sincere interest in seeing my child succeed. My only criticism of this school is that there needs to be more parent involvement. Many of the parents are recent arrivals from Mexico or don't speak a word of English, event though many have lived here for many years. This is pretty typical os the west valley though.I also wish that there was more school spirit and interest in sports.
