I have been involved with the special education staff at this school for the past three years. I am a state employee that is in charge of several foster students in this school. I have had several of my clients in the special educational classrooms and this school, mainly in Mr. Winther's room. I can not begin to tell you what a dramatic difference this young man has made in their lives. I have seen my clients become excited about attending school and wanting to go on a daily basis. Mr. Winther has also went above and beyond be ensure my clients are successful. He has attended court hearings, child/parent meetings, and proposed effective IEP meetings that benefited the educational performance of my clients. If you have a special needs student, this school is the place for them! Thank you for all you do for my clients!!

I am a social worker that works closely with Mr. Winther in the special education department at Tuscano and I could not agree more with the mother in the previous review. Mr. Winther has went above and beyond to ensure that my clients thrive and learn in school. I am just in awe over how he can instill integrity and growth in academics as fast as he does. My clients are excited to go to school and learn. I have asked Mr. Winther to attend child study hearings and court placements and he has attended all of these meetings without hestitation. The principals have always been involved in the IEP's and have found ways to assist their teachers with specific needs in dealing with the special needs students. If you are looking for a school that is going to make a difference in your child's life, this school is it!

I spent five years scared and dreading sending my oldest child to school. I had heard good things about Tuscano, the teachers and the administration and I thought I would check into it. We currently live in the Western Valley Elem. area but I drive my child 3 miles to Tuscano and we are very happy. I get emails every week from my child's teacher informing us of what they learned that week and pictures of the children doing different learning activities. Every morning I see at least one if not both the Principal and Vice Principal reminding parents to drive carefully, they watching our children enter the school. When I have emailed questions or concerns I have received responses right away. I feel like they are easy to communicate with.

Mr. Winthers is a great teacher, I don't think my son Fox would have been doing as good of a job if it weren't for him. thank u Mr. Winther

My youngest child is starting Tuscano and I feel really good about it. I know that she will be safe and learn a lot. Tuscano is a great place for kids. My older daughter will be entering the third grade. I highly recommend Tuscano! Laurel Thompson

I have been so impressed with the Kindergarten teachers as well as the principal and vice principal here at Tuscano Elementary. The principal makes an effort to know each child by name. I always see him when I visit the school whether he is overseeing drop-off/ pick-up of students or wiping tables in the cafeteria while encouraging students to display appropriate behavior. He is very involved with the students and parents. The Kindergarten is run so well and I feel that my child not only learned the expected material but also had numerous extra-curricular activities that really enriched his learning experience. His teacher definitely went above and beyond to provide these opportunities to her students.

I agree with the previous post. They focus way too much on their test scores. I see very few teachers who have rapport with their students. ...Maybe it's because they are too busy yacking on their cell phones, which I've seen or too busy chatting it up when they should be watching the kis on the playground. If your child is a bus rider, you should thank god that your child makes it home. It's pure chaos at the end of the day. They put the bus riders k-5 in a breeze way that is way too small...Or maybe it would be ok if the teachers had some order, but instead it looks like one big giant mob...Good luck manuevering through that! social studies, science, foreign language, extracurricular activities, clubs, gifted program-----nonexistant at tuscano because they don't use it. This school should bill itself as a reading only school.

I am actually thinking of pulling my child from this school. I am not happy with the experience. These young teachers at Tuscano are more Administrators vs. Teachers and focus is 'just' on testing scores vs. 'growing, developing and having a positive learning influence on children'. Principle condesending.

My children have been at this school for over two years I like the principal and most of the teachers are pleasant, however many are very young, inexperienced, and lack solid classroom management skills.I predict that In 5yrs it will be a great asset to the community.

I have been very happy with this school it has a principal that is dedicated to the improvement of every child. I see it in the programs that they implement. My daughter was in kindergarten last year and her teacher was excellent in fact all of the Kindergarten teachers were wonderful. The staff cares about what the parents think and offer many opportunities for parents to be involved. This school is welcoming and safe there are always teachers and staff members out monitoring the children's activities. The principal and assistant Principal are always visible and approachable. I'm proud to send my daughter here and not only do I have high expectations but I have every confidence that my daughter will benefit from attending Tuscano elementary. Melissa

The school is very good it has a lot of potential but needs a gifted program. It does not have anything in place at this time to meet the needs of these students.

The school is good but does not have a gifted program in place. Based on the staff and principle the school has great potential. But they do not meet the needs of their gifted students these students. My son is in 3rd grade and if one is not in place I feel like I need to send him to another school.
